Freak369's Full Review: Sharpie Permanent Marker Fine Tip 8 Pack Black Red...
Sanford is one of the premier names in permanent markers and their eight color chisel tip set is a nice investment for the home or office. The markers are thicker than the standard Sharpie so spotting them in a drawer isn't hard. They're great for writing on cardboard, metal, plastic and other surfaces but the ink will bleed through paper. Having a thicker barrel, these are nice for making posters or signs and the tips last an incredibly long time. Depending on how you hold it, you can achieve a thick or thin line so it's like getting two markers in one. Unless you are stabbing the tip into something, you can expect a long life from it. Recapping is a must to ensure that it doesn't dry out so remember to listen for the click so you know it's sealed properly.
Color Selection
This is a standard color assortment containing the following: black, orange, green, blue, red, teal [light blue], orange and light green. There is no yellow in this pack but two shades of green. Not exactly great planning on the part of Sharpie. The ink is certified non-toxic and dries fast; smudging can happen on slick surfaces and glass. For the price is it a nice selection but if you need yellow, you'll have to buy it separately. Individual markers in this series cost approximately $1.49 each so buying the eight-count pack is cost effective. These are not neon but the light green is a bit on the loud side; all the others are basic but very nice to have for labeling boxes and inventory.
Price
Office supply stores sell these for $5.00 to $6.00; cheaper than what it costs to buy them individually. They are backed with the Sanford guarantee that you will be satisfied or they will replace them or refund your money. This is an entry-level type of set; suitable for the home or office and when a permanent marker is needed. If you're planning on buying more than a couple of these, go with the set and save yourself some money. These are sold 'carded' meaning there is no case to store them in, for me, that's not a huge deal. That's one of the reasons they cost less than individually purchased chisel tipped markers.
The Bottom Line
The chisel point allows you to make thick or thin lines so it's like getting two markers in one. As with all the Sanford products, I'm impressed with these and highly recommend them to anyone seeking a permanent marker with a long life, lasting colors and a solid barrel. These are also available in a grip version if you are looking for something that's a bit more comfortable to write with. If basic colors are what you need then this is a set that will work well for you. Non-toxic, quick drying ink that doesn't fade over time packaged in a thick barrel that is practically impossible to break, crack or destroy.
