Freak369's Full Review: Sharpie Permanent Marker Fine Tip Assorted 24 Pack
Sharpie markers are one of the best when it comes to permanent markers; they come in a plethora of colors and tip sizes, last a long time and the ink is of high quality. If that isn't enough to sell you on them here are a few more perks; they write on pretty much anything, are generally fade resistant and are sold in a wide variety of stores. Even though there are some colors in this set that rarely get used, the 24 pack is a great way to get your hands on a nice assortment of colors without having to try and hunt them down individually. I was given this pack this past Christmas and its seen some serious use since then. A few of them have disappeared but I fully expected that when I saw some of the cool pink and purple markers. I am sure that if I start rooting around in Annabelle's room I will find them hidden some where.
Sanford Sharpie 24 Count Fine Tip Markers
These are fine point markers that can be used on paper, cardboard, card stock, index cards, poster board and metal. You can use them on DVD's and CD's but you do run the risk of harming them; Sharpie does make a specific marker for labeling media and they are very nice to work with. The 1mm size tip isnt all that thick but on the same token it isn't all that thin either. If you are someone that writes heavy you will love these because the tips are extremely strong; they aren't as durable ad rugged as the super fine and ultra fine ones but they are close. Because there are so many different colors in the pack you can use them to liven things up on packages, memos, posters or reward charts.
The ink your usual Sanford Sharpie quality; it dries super fast so there are almost never any cases of smudging or smearing. If you are working on metal or plastic computer cables you may need to give it a little longer to dry but we are only talking ten to fifteen seconds. The colors in this pack are incredible; I don't suggest trying to blend them because the tips can and will pick up traces of ink from other colors. Even if it is dry there is a chance that the tip could become contaminated and then you have to try and salvage it by writing on scarp sheets of paper to clean the tip. The last time I counted up the colors that Sharpie offers in their permanent marker line there were an amazing 38 of them, even though you only get 24 of those in this pack, it is still a good representation of what the series offers you.
The colors in this set are: blue, green, yellow, red, purple, black, dirt brown, olive green, orange, lime, aqua, turquoise [teal], magenta, tangerine [dark orange], navy [dark blue], burgundy, marigold [yellowish orange], lilac, pink, sky [very light blue], berry blue, mint [soft green], peach and plum purple. The assortment is really nice and it gives you a lot of freedom when you are writing, addressing cards or even just sitting at your desk doodling. There is a slight smell to the markers but if you have used other Sharpie products, that is something that you will know all about and probably won't be all that bothered by.
Since I received this as a gift I had no idea what the going price was on the pack; when I looked online and saw that most places were selling this for about twenty dollars I almost fell over. When I stopped to think about it, it wasn't really that bad of a price because if you buy them individually you are look at paying abut $1.25 for them so getting them in a larger pack can save you a little bit of money. I'd get this pack only if you know that you will have a use for at least half of the colors; there are a couple that I will probably never use like the olive green and tangerine but it is nice to know that if I ever do have a use for those shades, there will be sitting in my drawer.
The Bottom Line
I am probably the only person that gets Sharpies and other office supplies for Christmas but I am not complaining. The markers are awesome to write with and they have the capability of a very long life if you take care of them and recap them when you are done. This 24 pack might be a bit of overkill for conservative offices where everything is done in black, blue and red but if you have the desire to add some color to things, this is a great set of permanent markers to look for.
