Pros:How convenient to have two different size tips, on each marker!
Cons:Don't get the writing wet!
The Bottom Line: Sometimes you need a fine point; other times you need ultra fine. It's great to have both, in one marker.
I really like Sharpie permanent markers. I manage to find so many uses for them! I label food items, sign greeting cards, create crafts projects, and tag electronic equipment. Sharpies always write well and dry quickly. The writing lasts a really long time (as long as it doesn't get wet), and the marker, itself, also lasts a really long time. So, all in all, Sharpies have a definite spot in my life.
Recently I bought a 4-pack of their Twin Tip Permanent Markers. Two tips in one! Not two different colors, as I'd originally presumed, but two different size tips. One side is a "fine" point, and the other is "ultra fine".
The fine tip is made of felt, and works well for labeling items when you have a reasonable size product to label. I use this size, for instance, when I label vacuum-sealed food packages before placing them in the freezer. In nice, big letters, I print the type of food, and the date. This way, a year from now, I'll know that the brown square in the bag at the back of the freezer contains meatloaf.
The fine tip is also great for tagging electrical equipment. For instance, I use a light color marker to tag the fuses in my fuse box. It's very helpful for me to know which fuse turns off, for instance, the ceiling fan electrical box in the family room. Because I have plenty of room on the fuse box, I can use the fine point of this marker to write large, legible letters.
What about the ultra fine point? That one is more like a traditional pen point. This one is useful when I add personal touches to greeting cards, or when I need to write model numbers, serial numbers, and other warranty information onto an index card, which I file for future reference. In these cases, I need to write in handwriting that's much closer to my normal writing size, rather than the large letters that the fine point requires.
This 4-pack includes black, blue, red, and green. Other colors are available. The markers are about 5 1/2" long. There are two caps - a large one, with a pocket-clip on the fine end, and a smaller one on the ultra fine end. Both sides appear to be the same exact color, which is important if you need to use both sizes on one project. The markers have a distinct odor, but it disappears quickly.
I highly recommend Sharpie markers in general, and these twin tip markers, specifically, if you require two different size tips. At a cost of just a couple dollars, this 4-pack is well worth it, to me.
