Pros: It really does a nice job of removing hair.
Cons: I feel the comb is too short.
I bought my "Shed Ender," at Walgreens after seeing a commercial on TV. It showed a very good example of how much hair a dog can shed and how the "Shed Ender," did a wonderful job removing the hair. I decided to buy one. I paid $9.99 for it. The "Shed Ender," is a professional de-shedding tool.
The Dalmatian goes into his twice-yearly moult, the white hair appears to multiply at a very rapid rate, especially on the carpet. During this period of time I brush my dog everyday. The hair sheds so much I have to put the seat covers on my car.
I tried the "Shed Ender," and found if used properly it really does work. You must take long strokes from front to back and the comb removes a lot of hair. It does remove hair that is trapped in the dogs undercoat. My only complaint would be I would have made the comb a little bit longer. The comb is only about 2 inches long. A comb about 3 or 4 inches would work better. The comb grabs and removes the loose shedding hair. This helps the dog have a nice shiny healthy coat. I do like the way it works.
It is light and very compact. I could take it to the dog show by putting the comb in my purse or pocket, this is convenient for me. It is light enough that it will not tire my hand out. When you have arthritis this is very important.
The "Shed Ender," is a blue plastic on the top and and a grey rubber type material with finger grips on the bottom. The comb is a made out of metal and will have the word front wrote on it. This way you know that you are combing the pet the correct way. The comb reminds me of a razor but is not at all sharp. There are small teeth on the comb. In comparison to a regular curry comb where the teeth are spread further apart. The comb part fits in the top of the handle and is held by two screws.
The "Shed Ender," is about 7 inches long and about 1 inch wide. The comb can be used on dogs or cats. It does a great job. I also have used the "Shed Ender," on the small carpet that my dog lays on. I wash the carpet put it over the fence to dry, when it is half way dry I use long strokes to take the hair off the carpet. It works great.
I understand that the comb can be replaced. If I had to replace the comb all I would need is a phillips screwdriver and a new comb. At the end of the handle towards the bottom is an oval hole through the handle where I can hang the "Shed Ender." I like to keep mine hung on a nail in the garage where I keep all my dog supplies.
I do believe the "Shed Ender," does a better job than a regular bristle brush or the rubber curry comb. It just takes a little longer because of the size of the comb.
