I stayed at the Shelburne Murray Hill with 5 girlfriends for a weekend in one of their 2 bedroom, 2 bath suites and it was PERFECT for a large group. We could have fit 6 more people in there we had so much space! That much space is unheard of in New York City.

The 2 bedroom suite had a kitchen (full fridge, stove, dishes, etc.) and a living area with a dining room table. The bathrooms were spacious and extremely clean (perhaps recently remodeled?). We had a view of the Empire State Building from our 5th floor suite. The beds weren't doubles - they were actually Queen sized beds - with comfy sheets and blankets. Each bedroom has 2 beds. The living area has a pull-out couch.

The location was perfect. Murray Hill is a safe and quaint neighborhood, and we could walk up or downtown in a reasonable amount of time. The hotel is at 37th and Lexington.

The staff was generous but not "in your face". The only complaint I had about the staff was that they did not give us our wake-up call in the morning of check-out. They were not overly apologetic either, which was strange.

We went on a weekend in November and paid $400/night for the 2 bedroom suite which ended up at $471 including tax and occupancy charges. For the weekend it ended up being $157 a person, and it would have been less if our entire group had been able to come. If you're planning a bachelor or bachelorette getaway or a family get together in NYC, this is the perfect place to go because the price is right, the location is key, and you have so much space that you forget you're in a hotel!
