What you booked with no nasty surprises

Pros:Convenient, comfortable, clean, good value for money, helpful and efficient staff.
Cons:Small bathtubs, some street noise on all floors
The Bottom Line: When in W40/50s NYC, stay here. It may not be the star of your trip but it will give you little reason to complain.
I stayed at the New York Sheraton over Labor Day Weekend 2004, after the Convention moved out of town. I got a good rate of 179 with two nights paid and one night free.
The hotel had recently been updated and all the public areas, the elevators and the room were clean and in a good state of repair.
Room was comfortable and bathroom in good state of repair, though bathtub was very small.
As an SPG member I got upgraded to the Club Level (No suite upgrade) which allowed access to the Club Lounge. I used this for breakfast and it was better than most. Good choice and plenty of staff clearing up and helping with coffee etc.
On the 47th floor you still get street noise but it didn't really bother me too much. Very little noise from hallway or other guests which is not the case in some other NYC hotels.
Everyone was very friendly and efficient though the concierge was stretched at times. The room service menu was a tad limited but the pizza was quick and very tasty which is often not the case.
Although it is not a pleasant experience, I use the subway when I am in a hurry and the connection from JFK via Air train and E train of 50 minutes from Customs clearance to hotel lobby (Subway is 10 yds from the entrance) was very handy indeed.
In summary, very reliable, just what I expected, no nasty surprises. Convenient, comfortable and I felt good value for money. Only gripes would be bathtub too small and very little choice on TV Channels but that seems to be the trend as the accountants cut back.
