Pros: Ease of use, smooth vibration free, my customers love them.
Cons: Will flood if you over use the choke.
I bought my first 488 12 years ago for our rental fleet. I had never heard of the Shindaiwa brand, however I had a great relationship with the distributing company and took their word it was a good product. They were wrong, this a GREAT saw, the Shindaiwa 488 is in my opinion the best saw in its class. Easy to service (very few tools required). Smooth as silk to use, (almost no vibration) thanks to the 5 point antivibration. Starts easy every time. Fuel and oil cap never stick to machine (no spanner required when refueling). 2 stage air filter no spanner required to get to it. The pull starter guide has an insert witch will not wear the starter cord, this is amazing i can't remember ever replacing a starter cord. The ignition module on these saws is also amazing. We pressure wash these saws after every rental and they start up straight away, no hesitation. I could go on and on, this is a great saw. Best of all, my customers love it.
Before finding the Shindaiwa brand I would replace all of my 2 stroke equipment every year or 2, now I am happy to go several years with some items.
