beena500's Full Review: Shiseido Gentle Cleansing Foam
If you check out my review for MAC's Select Tint Foundation, you would see that it caused major breakouts. Fortunatly for me, I had money to burn on a new cleanser.
Let's see, it was Christmas Eve of 2003, and we were at the mall to buy presents that my mother forgot to buy. As I was walking around, I spotted the Shiseido counter. I've read about their products here on E-pinions, and I wanted something high priced too darn it!
Their salesperson was very very helpful. Not pushy, didn't try to force other products onto me, and she even let me try out the cleansers.
I bought Shiseido's Gentle Cleansing Foam which is part of their The Skincare line.
The Product: Shiseido's Gentle Cleansing Foam came in a pretty pink and white box and inside is a white tube with a flip top. The cleanser is not what I would call a foam. It is more like a very thick and stiff cream. It is pearly white and you only need very little to use for your face, about a nickle or a dime sized blob. I have been using it every morning and night since Christmas Eve and I still have half the tube left.
Gentle Cleansing Foam has a slight scent, kind of detergent-like, but it fades quickly and I have no problem with it.
Claims: From the box: "A new source of strength for the future of you skin. A lightweight, richly foaming cleanser that gently yet effectively rinses make-up and impurities from skin while retaining essential moisture. Contains microspherical granules to promote exceptional cleansing and a silky fresh feeling."
"Excellent for all skin types. Non-clogging to pores. Dermatologist-tested (formulated to minimize the risk of allergy.) Specially formulated by Shiseido Laboratories, Japan."
The Pros:
Well, true to its name, it cleanses! To prove it I wore my MAC Select Tint Foundation along with a no-name mascara for a few hours and then washed it off. The mascara clung a bit, but with a little scrubbing it came off. (Be warned that MAC Select Tint Foundation comes off at the drop of a hat.) It lathered up easily and you only need a teeny bit.
After wards my face felt a bit dry, but then that never happened again so I'm guessing it is because it was a new cleanser.
The Cons:
It is so expensive! People are not made of money Shiseido! BUT because you only need a small bit, and you get a lot (4.8 0z/125 ml) I think that paying $25.00 for it isn't too bad.
Also, take care not to get it into your eyes. I lather up after I wet my face and the cleanser travels easily. I always seem to get it into my eyes, and it stings. The good news is that it only stings for a little bit, and don't use warm water to get it out - then it stings MORE (lol).
