Pros:Powerful, durable, and hangs out of the way. Great Price.
Cons:Unit is a bit top heavy for moving around.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a powerful Vacuum that will stay out of your way in the shop, this the Shop-Vac for you.
The perfect compromise. About 5 years ago I got into woodworking. I priced some good dust collection systems, and found them to be to expensive. I also found that I would still needed a shop vacuum. When I saw this hanging Shop-Vac I thought it would be an inexpensive compromise. I originally paid $79.99 for this unit at Sears, but found it at Lowe's for $59.99. I returned to Sears, and to their credit they matched the Lowe's price.
Wonderful Features. The 4 1/2 hp hanging Shop-Vac comes with a 5 gallon tank, which seems to last forever between emptying. The hose is long enough reach halfway across my basement about 15 feet. The vacuum can also be used to pickup water after you remove the filter. The attachments are: Wide nozzle with squeegee, medium flat nozzle, round brush nozzle, crevice nozzle, two extensions, filter, and attachment holder. Noise Level is not bad at all. No Ear Protection needed.
Does it work? The Shop-Vac 5 gal. Hang Vacuum is a perfect choice for anyone, who has a woodworking shop. My shop is in my basement, and cleaning sawdust is very important to me. I was amazed at the power of this unit. It even picks up nails, and chucks of wood. The fact that it hangs on the wall may turn some people off, but I found it to work perfectly for me. The Shop-Vac comes with a long enough hose to reach anywhere, that I need to go with it. The hose wounds around the base great, when not in use. The attachment are varied, and work great for about any job. And I can even attach the hose to my bench top Tools to act as a poor man's dust collection system.
Other uses. Although I use my Shop-Vac for my woodworking, I could see this vacuum working well in any home. It does not have wheels, and is a bit top heavy to carry around, and sit. As I mentioned before the hose is extremely long, and will reach a long way. I could see this Shop-Vac used in garages, basements or even in the house if needed. The power, and ease of use of the unit will make it your first choice when you want to clean up. A grade of A+ to the Shop-Vac people on this one.
