framebo's Full Review: Shure E3C Consumer Headphones
I have owned three sets of the Shure E3C earphones over the last three years.
The sound quality is excellent and far superior to the included earphones supplied with the Ipod video or the Sony or Sennheiser sound isolating earphones I have tried.
My first set purchased locally in Australia began to get a noticeably lower volume in one ear after only three months. I got this pair replaced under warranty with no question and I was happy with the customer service.
The replacement pair were fine for about 12 months but developed a wiring fault where one ear stopped playing. I always treat the wiring carefully, making sure not to stretch the wires when wrapping them around the Ipod to store in my shirt pocket. As this was the last day of a holiday in Europe and I was facing a long flight back to Australia I was forced to pay for another pair despite my original pair bought in Australia being within their three year replacement warranty.
Now this pair bought in the UK are demonstrating the same diminished volume in one speaker that I experience with the first set.
So in my experience the useful life of the E3C is about twelve months if you're lucky.
That's disappointing for a quite expensive earphone.
