eddielakr's Full Review: Shure E4C Consumer Headphones
I workout 5-6x a week and It's very important to me to have a good set of headphones to get my pumped up.
-I tried the sennheisers cx300 and I really enjoyed the sound but they were very uncomfortable in my ears.
-Ipod headphones are just horrile, I also use sony over the ear $10 headphones but they die every 3 months. The sound is good but there is absolutely no bass.
My friend purchased the Shure E3c's and I never knew that expensive headphones like this even existed!
I ended up doing my research, trying on different headphones, Stereo.3, Ety 6, Shure e3c, and I chose the E4c's over all of them.
The E4c's sound amazing, I mean absolutely brilliant. I can't even imagine better sound than that. With some songs, when you close your eyes, you actually feel like you are at a concert. The bass is perfect, not overpowering by any means. It's good for techno, but not the best.
The bass is stronger than the E3'cs and I think thats what really seperates the two earphones.
It's able to produce notes that I could not hear with my other headphones. I was able to hear piano keys or music instruments, that seemed like the I was listening to a different song, because my other headphones could not produce these notes.
The sound is very good with my ipod mini, not too loud, partially because the amp on the mini is smaller. I would assume it would be even lower on the nano, since it's uses a smaller amp.
I have to lower the sound volume on my laptop, because of the beefy amp, otherwise my ears will bleed.
The cord is a bit long, which for running can be a pain.
I have to wrap it around my ipod a few times. The cord is extremely sturdy and the quality is great. It comes with a 2 year warranty, so if It breaks, I can send it back to shure (which is located near me in ill)
The ear pieces are changable, so you put in smaller ones or larger ones. They also come with foam inserts. You just squeeze them, insert them, and it takes the shape of your ear within 20secs. It gives you a great barrier from outside noise. I found these to be very comfortable, but somewhat odd looking at the gym. YOU CANNOT have a conversation with these in your ears, it's impossible.
The HiFi.3's were so uncomfortable, after 2 hours of wearing them, my ears were sore for 2days!!
These are pricey, I have to admit, but worth it for $160 with a 2 year warranty.
