lawnmower beer (Reply to this comment)
by fuche_bu
well for those of us wimps who have to mow the lawn a nice Belgian wit always hits the spot so why exactly is a Brooklyn Monster in my hand right now? great review and I agree that a great beer can be consumed any season. It's just that some beers work better in specific situations.
take care,
george

I'm partial to regular Sierra Nevada. It's always a safe choice.
This one looks good.

So the 2003 is aging gracefully. Now, what about the 1997-2002 sitting in the beer cellar/closet...

Ahhh, yes....the vertical tasting notes. Ya know, I'm almost AFRAID to do something like that. I once saved bottles of Thomas Hardy's religously for more than a decade, then did a vertical. I was disappointed. While *some* bottles/years did age magnificently, becoming very soft, rounded, and mellow with vanilla and soft almost milk chocolatey notes, some other bottles had become oxidized almost to the point of being unpalatable. It's a heartbreaker when you sit on a bottle for a decade and have that happen...
Later, gator!

By the way, just noticed yesterday that the 2004 Expedition is already on the shelves at my friendly neighborhood beer warehouse. Time to stock up on provisions!
