Pros:Work better than any other, easy to clean
Cons:Not a single thing wrong with it.
The Bottom Line: The Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan was a great gift to get. I love every aspect of it.
I was given the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan as a Christmas present from my sister. She knows how heavy I am in to baking. I am always making breads and cakes for parties that our family has. And one of the things my sister always sees me do is "fight" the breads out of the pans. That was her thought behind this gift. I find it to be a very thoughtful gift. It came in second place of my favorite gifts this past year, right behind my daughter's hand crafted toilet paper roll puppet of her that I got.
Description and facts:
This fantastic pan measures at 8-1/2-by-4-by-2-3/4-inches it is fully made up of FDA approved food grade silicone. It is completely over safe for up to 448 degrees. The Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan is microwave safe, freezer safe, oven safe and even dish washer safe! How on earth can you beat that?! This pan is fully flexible in any direction you can twist and turn it in. I love the flexibility of it the best!
The Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan that I have is dark blue in color. I have also since seen them in red color as well. Blue is my favorite color so I am certainly happy with that. The pan has elongated oval shaped lines in the bottom centered out ward. This helps the cake or loaf to slide out with ease. The fact that it is a silicon pan means that it should not stick anyhow. The lip of the pan is wider on the ends, but extends all the way around the pan making it pretty easy to grasp no matter which was you turn it or pick it up as the case may be.
The uses:
I have used the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan for cranberry bread, banana nut breads, blue berry loaf bread, raisin bread, pound cake, marble pound cake and more for deserts. But here is some thing that make strike people to be odd. I also use the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan to make my meat loaf! It works great for that too, and holds the juices just right for the meat to come out perfectly tender.
Cleaning:
The cleaning is a snap. Of course as I mentioned above the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan is dish washer safe. I do not have that luxury, but washing it by hand is easier than washing any other loaf pan that I have used in the past. When you empty the bread or cake (what ever the case may be) from the pan it slides right out. So nothing is left stuck to it. Even when I do my meat loaf in it. Water rinses it right off before I even get the dish soap near it. I wash it with the rest of my dishes like normal and it takes just a few seconds start to finish. I have no trouble at all with the cleaning of this pan.
Regular pan versus Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan:
My old pan would stick, the bread would burn on the ends some times but be soft in the middle, the washing was awful because if it did not get washed right away it would need to be scrubbed for five minutes before it was clean. Also with my old pan the quality of the bread was duller. The pan was also hot and stayed hot taking longer for what ever I made to cool.
The Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan on the other hand is stick free, simple to clean and maintain. You don't need to fight the edges with a knife or spatula. This pan allows the contents to be wriggle out twisting slightly one way and the other and the contents fall right on to the intended area. That is important to me because I want it to look as good out of the pan as it does when it is in it.
My thoughts and recommendation:
I love my Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan. I use it pretty much for to 6 times per week on average and have been doing so since it was given to me months ago. I like the quality of the breads and pound cakes much better then that of my old pan that I was using. The contents never burn at the sides or the bottom. It browns and cooks very evenly which is a huge plus when your bringing foods for family parties like I like to do. The results look and taste much more impressive. I have gotten a great deal of compliments on my deserts and breads since I began using the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan.
The Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan made a great and useful gift. I have never used anything better then this pan is. I am very impressed with it in ever way. My favorite part is that it does not stay hot once it is out of the over. It cools the minute you take it out because the silicone does not hold heat like metal does. I have not had a single problem or complaint with the Silicone Zone bread/loaf pan. I would highly recommend it.
