Pros: Very comfortable and supportative for a short period of time.
Cons: One cannot afford to buy a new mattress every few months.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy a Simmons mattress. Both this Mattress and its replacement World Class Beauty Rest were unacceptable.

| garger's Full Review: Simmons BackCare Mattress |
After over 18 years (how time flies!) of excellent service from our Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress and box spring, my wife and I decided that it was time for a new set.
After going to many mattress stores and trying many mattresses (we diligently tried to be good researchers for this long term investment), we selected a Simmons BackCare Eastland Elite Queen set. (As I understand from Simmons, the Eastland may be called by another name beginning with an "E" if purchased at another mattress store, but it will be essentially the same mattress set if it is in the BackCare line.)
The mattress set was delivered on 9/9/2002. It was absolutely fantastic for the first few months, giving great support, comfort, and sleep. But pretty soon, our backs began to notice otherwise. On observation, it seemed obvious that the middle area where our buttocks rest would sink down further (compress) more than before and more than the surrounding areas. (Note: I weight 185# and my wife 120#.) This gives your back what I call the "wishbone" effect...a good bend!
I contacted the mattress store where we purchased the mattress and they arranged to have an independent inspector come out to evaluate the mattress for warranty replacement. The inspector came out and took measurements from side to side across the top of the mattress, but he did it with the bed at rest. (i.e., with no weight on it or nothing pushing on it.) The results came back that it was within its 1 ½ " tolerance, which was within Simmons specifications, and so there was nothing wrong with it. My wifes back and my back knew differently! It didnt feel bad when you were looking at it, it felt bad when you were lying on it!
To make a long story short, after a good amount of further negotiation with Simmons, they agreed to exchange it. We did not want the same problem again so we decided to go with a Simmons Beauty Rest World Class Evins Plush which was delivered on 5/1/03. See my review on this mattress, as it lasted for an even shorter period of time!
Some points to note: 1) When reading mattress reviews, note the amount of time a person has slept on them, as the comfort may be short lived. 2) In my experience, average non professional people who have a problem with a product are more apt to write a review than someone who is pleased with a product that performs as it should. Therefore when you see a large quantity of raving reviews, one might be suspect as to just who wrote them all. 3) My parents bought the same mattress set as ours and had the same problem. 4) When you buy a mattress, be sure to get a minimum 90 day exchange guarantee, as it is much easier to exchange during this period than under manufacturers warranty. Also, there are major price differences between stores, (which is probably why so many stores "match" or "beat" prices), so be a wise shopper with a sharp pencil. 5) Stand up for your rights. If your old mattress and / or the couch feel better than your new mattress, then either you picked the wrong comfort mattress, or your mattress is defective. And if your mattresses comfort characteristics "change" on you in a short period of time, be diligent in pursuing the warranty with the manufacturer. It is not fair for them to sell you something that does not feel like it did when you purchased it after a short period of time, because all you could judge it on when you selected it was how it felt!
