| LisaDo's Full Review: Simmons BackCare Mattress |
We needed a new mattress. The problem was that after a short period of time the ones that we had previously bought seemed uncomfortable. Part of the reason was was because we were buying cheap brand and lower quality, but we couldn't afford a good mattress and box spring set. Then, we got a flier from Heilig Meyers. They were having a bedding sale. We got in the car and headed to our local store.
Ever shopped for a mattress? How do you choose? Well, I had learned early on that for the most part, salesmen don't look out for what is best for you, but what will get them the most commission. Well, we got lucky. Our salesman was actually kind enough to ask us what we wanted and what we were looking for. We both wanted something that was fairly supportive without being to hard, but we also didn't want to sink into the mattress when we sat down. When we told him this, he pointed out the Simmons BackCare Ultimate Mattress "Windsor".
I'll be honest, the first thing I noticed was the price tag. Even on sale I was saying OUCH! This was not the highest priced one they had, but it was more than some of the others we were looking at. You also have to take for granted that Heilig Meyers was not exactly cheap, either. I knew we would pay more here than a furniture store, but we couldn't get financed anywhere else, either, so there we were.
Anyway, what we liked was the fact that while it was a pillow top, it still offered support. We laid down on it in the showroom and it was very comfortable. Not to soft, but not overly hard, either. It seemed to satisfy us both, which was the main issue we had been having. I would find one comfortable, but my husband wouldn't and vise versa.
The Simmons BackCare Mattress has what they call "5 Zones for your Bones". Basically this means that it has 5 comfort zones specifically designed for five different parts of the body.
The first zone, at the head of the bed, is the upperback comfort zone. This is for the shoulder and neck area. It helps support your neck and shoulders while you sleep.
The second zone down is the lumbar comfort zone, which is for the lower back and abdominal area.
The third zone is the hip comfort area which helps give your hips the support they need.
The fourth zone is the thigh support zone. This is for your thigh area from below the hips to just above the knee area.
The fifth zone is the lower leg comfort zone, which is for the legs from the knee down.
The comfort zones help support the different parts of your body. The hip area tends to give a little more to help give support to the lower back and so on. These areas are designed to help keep your spine and other bones the support and alignment your body needs to get the most out of you night.
What really sold me on this mattress was the comfort. This was the first and only mattress that my husband and I could agree on in our 4 years of marriage. No, we haven't been married long, but it is our third mattress and box springs set. The first two were the cheaper mattresses and left us with sore backs and a lot of tossing and turning. Since I have a bad hip, I was missing out on a lot of sleep. Since we purchased this set not only do I sleep better and more comfortably, but so does my husband. He was used to a softer mattress than I was and this was an easy compromise.
The Simmons BackCare Ultimate "Windsor" is also recommended by the NFSH, or the National Foundation for Spinal Health, LTD.
