I bought this mattress several years ago when I was moving into my own apartment, and I wanted a good queen size mattress. As with many of my major purchases, I attempted to research the product in advance with Consumer Reports. This particular mattress was not rated, but the brand was considered acceptable. I went to Sleepy's and tested a bunch of different mattresses. I did not really know what I wanted in terms of firmness, and discovered it is important to lie down on a bunch of different beds in order to figure out what is most comfortable.
I am not really sure which other mattresses I considered, but it was a close match between this one and one by Sealy, however this one was a little more comfortable. I learned that I like a mattress that provides medium to firm support with a lot of padding. They call this firm yet soft and it lives up to its name. This is a very comfortable mattress.
I spend a lot of time in bed. I like to watch tv there, talk on the phone, read, and do the normal activities one does in a bed, including sleep. I remember when I first got it I could not believe how comfortable it was, and today it is still very comfortable. I turn the mattress about twice each year, which is not easy, it feels like it weighs a ton. Although the fabric has pilled a little bit, it still looks new.
