For the past thirty five years I have staunchly maintained the superiority of Beautyrest mattresses. To me, it was like sleeping on a cloud...always. I have sold more of them than a lot of salesmen. They were so superior to anything else, that even thinking of changing gave me the shivers.
Last year my 17 yr. old mattress needed to go to the guest room, so I went to replace it. Guess what. I couldn't find any. The design had been changed because "the patent period was up", and the new "technology" was much better. I asked myself, "How can perfect get better?" I didn't want new; I wanted reliable, but, alas, it was not to be had. Neither could I find a way to contact the company to tell them I thought they had made a mistake. Odd, and a sign I would have been well advised to note.
Depending on my past experiences and satisfaction, I took the leap and purchased a "new and improved" Beautyrest. I HATE it! I have yet to have a good night's sleep on it. It does not support my frame once the "foam memory" sets in. It sags, but you can't tell until you're on it for a while. The "plush pillow" mats down to nothing.
It is impossible to turn around by myself. I had to reinforce my bed frame before it was delivered. I had to buy all new sheets and mattress cover. It looks like Lincoln's bed it's so high on the bed frame.
It's as far a cry from the Beautyrest I loved as possible. I'd be ashamed to call it a Beautyrest if I were responsible for it's design. Do yourself a favor and do not buy one. I never thought I'd say that!!! Mine is labeled Horizon. It's a horizon I wish I'd never seen.
The only thing that will restore my faith in the brand is if they take this one back and get me one that's an old design. Fancy that happening. Meanwhile, it needs to go into the guest room while I sleep on the 17 year old one. I must tell you, everyone who sleeps on the older one wants to take it home. They say it's the best sleep they've ever had!
