Pros:Comfortable at first
No motion transfer for a while
Love the terrycloth cover
Cons:Body impressions in pillow top
Motion transfer after time
Wish pillow top zipped off
The Bottom Line: Stay away from a pillowtop--the body impressions will drive you crazy, hurt your back, your neck and your pocketbook!
I thought there was something wrong with me, but after reading the other opinions, I know that it's not me, it's my mattress! I hate to admit that after spending $1,000 or so on our Beautyrest that I can't stand it! It was comfortable for maybe six or seven months (we have had it for over two years) but like others, we started getting the body impressions in the pillow top. When we sleep, it's like being trapped in a hole. There is an actual ridge between my husband and me. When he gets up for work in the morning, I literally move over onto it so I can be a little more comfy for a few minutes. We shopped for another brand of mattress and the sales guy told us about the impressions, and stupidly, I thought it was just their brand for some reason. The dept. store sales person didn't mention anything about the Simmons doing that so it never occurred to me that it would happen to it, too. I have wondered even if I could cut the pillow part off and have just a regular mattress! I almost forgot that I do swelter almost every night during the summer cause it holds in heat. Also, now we can feel each other move like on a regular mattress just about and maybe that has something to do with the breakdown of the pillow top? Not sure. Anyway, everyday I wake up feeling like I have been hit by a truck. The only thing I really do like is the terrycloth cover and would prefer to sleep on it than sheets! Overall, though, I prefer my couch over my bed.
