It's Done What I've Wanted and MORE!

Pros:Great storage and speed for the price
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: This unit is a great value. Buy it.

A month ago, I was looking for about a 2 GB flash drive to use when taking spreadsheets and word documents back and forth from the office. I’ve emailed them on occasion, but that hadn’t always worked out to my satisfaction.

So, I looked around for a quality 2 GB USB2 flash drive at a fair price. Upon surfing the net, I noticed this unit at Buy.com for $29.95 less a $15 rebate. I immediately noticed this unit, as I have had 3 great functioning external hard drives from the vendor, Simpletech, and it was a great net price. Like its hard drive counterparts, this flash drive has a warranty longer than the competition. This flash drive warranty is 2 years; most of the competitive models were a year. The hard drives carry a warranty of three years; most competitors again have warranties of a year.

Like all flash drives, this unit is plug and play. My office computer needed a couple of minutes to recognize the device and then was good to go. On my home computer, it was even faster to recognize. It flashes blue when it is being read or written to, so you can see that it is working.

My work files have consisted of directories of Microsoft Excel and Word files ranging from 10 – 20 meg. Those have downloaded in seconds and successfully. At home, it has been able to read and write quickly, without any loss of data. I have also used it at home to store music (windows media) files as I now have a shelf stereo with a USB input. That has worked great. It means that I can use backgrounds I have made for myself using Band In A Box software can be played away from the computer without burning a CD.

The unit itself is very small and light and can fit on a keychain. The size is 3.1” x .8” x .3”. I find it more secure attached to the key fob inside my attaché case. I

There is no external power required. Simpletech also provides password protection software as an available free download, which I have not purchased.

This unit has worked wonderfully well for me and I can recommend it enthusiastically. Newegg.com currently has this unit for $16.99 which is a bargain.
