Pros: Vegan, Only 2 minutes to make.
Cons: High price, high in sodium.
The Bottom Line: A self-contained disposable meal. I wouldn't feed it to guests, but it is better than starving!

| xyzwyatt's Full Review: Simply Asia Noodle Bowl, Spicy Kung Pao, 8.5 Oz Bo... |
I recently purchased a lot of dry microwavable products for fast lunches on work days. It is a single serving size meal packaged in a microwaveable bowl. I chose this item over frozen food mostly because our freezer is maxed out, but also because frozen food can take a lot of time to cook in the microwave. I could have made this from scratch, but it takes awhile for water to a boil and clean up the dishes.
To make simply tear the pouch of precooked noodles and dump them into the bowl. Tear the spice packet and pour over the noodles. Top with the sauce packet. Add 2 tablespoons of water (not included). Cover with included lid and cook in the microwave for 2 minutes. When it's done, stir it then top with the crushed peanuts.
The bowl that is included with the package is a low-budget thin plastic so not as luxurious as my own microwave bowls. There's plenty of height on the bowl so I was able to grab it at the top without too much pain. It worked best by immediately putting the bowl on a plate. I'm not sure I would have made it across the room with this hot bowl.
It came with a tiny cheap plastic fork that was so flimsy that it couldn't even stir the noodles. I used my own fork and moved on. Since the bowl was piping hot I also preferred to put the bowl on top of another plate. After lunch I just threw the bowl away which will save some time doing dishes, however I'm sure it is not eco friendly.
This is a vegan dish. There are a couple flakes of dehydrated carrot, red bell peppers, and green onion. If I made the dish myself, I would have used more sauce. It seemed dry to me. The flavor of the sauce was pretty good, but not spicy. It has a tiny kick to it, but I wouldn't consider it “spicy”.
I had this bowl and an egg roll and called it lunch. I am a big eater, but I wasn't able to finish all of the noodles. It was very starchy and I felt stuffed which is a good thing because there's 420 calories just in the bowl. It has 6 grams of fat, 3g of fiber, 0g of cholesterol, and 42% of my daily sodium.
This would fit easily in any lunch pail. It's also something simple to store in your desk drawer in case of emergency. This might even look down right delicious to you if you're starving and it's pouring down rain outside.
Last week I had a Tai Kitchen entree that wasn't suitable for consumption therefore I was not looking forward to this bowl. I was pleased that it definitely tasted better, but still not a winner. My standards for food are generally higher than this, however the rules change when cooking for one. I wasn't expecting this to be gourmet so I wasn't too disappointed. It was definitely fast and filling. This is acceptable in taste, but not a very good deal for $3.
I would only recommend this only if you're looking for something to keep in your desk drawer for an "emergeny" meal.
