| meredi11's Full Review: Carly Phillips - Simply Sensual |
Simply Sensual is the third and final novel in the Simply series by Carly Philips. And hence, an end to the romance novels reviews for me, at least for awhile. As I have stated in my other reviews and those who remember me from a long time ago know that I am an avid mystery book lover. So, lets dive in to the details:
Splash!!
The Story:
Simply Sensual is the conclusion to the Simply series. At the end of the second novel in the series, Emma Montgomery, the grandmother, decided she needed to see her granddaughter, Grace, be happy and in love. Since Emma had successfully set up Logan and Cat (see Simply Scandalous ), she knew she could get Graces love-life revving up.
But, Grace lives in New York City and Emma couldnt do this all by herself. Emma had become suspicious of Grace because Grace suddenly stopped withdrawing from her trust fund. In the past, Grace relied heavily upon that money. So, Emma hires private investigator, Ben Callahan to watch her granddaughters activities.
Naturally, Emma hired Ben solely upon his good looks. Emma has a hidden agenda that no one knows but herself.
Poor Ben! He has the awful duty to keep an eye on a spoiled woman who has more money than she knows what to do with! Poor Ben! The spoiled brat is gorgeous!
Poor Ben! Grace has recently decided to throw caution to the wind and get in touch with her sensual side. Poor Ben! Grace has set her sights on the hunky man who moved in across from her!
Course, Grace doesnt know that Grandma hired him to keep an eye on her. Ben doesnt want Grandma to know how closely he has been watching her granddaughter either.
Can Ben control Grace, so she will stop putting herself in danger for a few extra bucks? Can Grace forgive Ben when she finds out the truth?
My Thoughts:
If any of you had read my review on the second novel in the Simply series, you would know that I was losing my momentum to even finish the series. I greatly enjoyed the first novel in the series. The second novel sort of ticked me off with the sudden change in character traits. But, I started this, so I would finish the series.
None of the characters were greatly developed in this novel.
Grace was a spoiled rich brat. She decided to become in touch with her wild side. She set her sights on the man next door, who just moved in. Course, she didnt know Grandma had hired him to watch her.
Ben had actually had the most character development in the novel, I thought. He normally didnt accept these types of jobs he normally just watches people to see if they were cheating spouses. He took the job to help his mother, who needed a better living environment as she was getting older and needed more help. Ok, since he took the job for that, who can fault him?
This book was by far the most sexually explicit of the three. Each one of the novels in the series got worse and worse with the sexual detail as I progressed through the series.
I have to say I was bored reading this novel. It was so similar to the second novel in the series; I could see the outcome before the end. I know, I know
.romance novels always end the same
.everyone gets the man or woman they are after in the book.
Which is preciously why I should stick with mystery novels, they dont end the same and the plots are not the same from book to book.
