| green's Full Review: Sims Snowboarding Master Link |
In keeping with the traditions set by most sims products, the mater link is a genuinely innovative, hype free binding. Unlike other manufacturers sims follows the philosophy that their better off spending their money making better products than buying two page fold out ads in every magazine known to man.
In the case of the Master Link the innovations are in the simplicity of the binding. The composite plastic base is super strong and durable, mated to an aluminum heel loop which adds the necessary heelside stiffness for precise carves. The straps are made out of a unique closed cell foam that doesn't bunch yet is so super thick that it prevents feel on toeside carves. Aluminum ratchet buckels close out the deal. Basically the essentials of the binding are perfect. you don't want a binding that isn't made like the link.
What makes the link unique is two real innovations. The first being the adjustable toe ramp, which is like a highback for your toes givig toeside power that I have never felt on a strap binding before. The second innovations is the proportial adjustment on the heel loom. Most bindings adjust for length. The problem with that is that feet get bigger not just longer. The solution mount your heelcup adjustment on an angle, so that the highback and heelcup raise when the binding is extended
If you weigh under 180 go for the master link
over 180 go for the posi linke, its stiffer due to an aluminum base plate
