Since You’ve Been Gone is a mystery of sorts, written by Author Carlen Thompson. The main character in the book Rebecca Ryan has ESP. In the past she has used her psychic powers to help the police solve crimes. Rebecca is able to see through the eyes of victims and this has helped her in the past to solve crimes. Unfortunately when the crime came close to home and her younger brother was murdered her psychic powers failed her and she was unable to solve the crime or protect her brother. After being haunted by many things in her past especially her brothers murder she decides that she needs to move away and make a fresh start in another town.

Rebecca is called back home when a relative is stricken with cancer. On her way back into town she has a vision of a little boy who has been captured and is in a dark room, the vision is so vivid that she crashes into a tree and later finds her self in the hospital where she encounters an old friend, who is of course handsome and is now a doctor, Dr. Clay. She soon finds out that the boy she had the vision about is actually her Cousin Molly’s son Todd.

While Rebecca, Molly and Dr. Clay all try to figure out what happened to Todd. Rebecca also tries to figure out what happened to her brother. She is also taunted by Todd’s devious kidnapper and is stuck dealing with problems from family members who both blame her for things from the past or resent her for not being able to help out her own family when her brother was abducted and murdered.

This book certainly has it all. It has mystery, it has suspense, it has struggle, it has family issues, it has a bit of romance going on, and it has psychic visions, this book has all the elements of a very exciting book. And these elements all put together make for one exciting page turner of a book. Rebecca is such tortured soul as it is, she is still dealing with the past, that she thought she had escaped. Now it seems as if the nightmare is happening all over again. The characters are bold, the issues are bold and the story line is so intense you can not help but be drawn in by it. This is the kind of book that is very difficult to put down. You want to know what is going to happen next, you want to know if they can save Todd, you want Rebecca to find out what happened to her brother, and deal with her family issues as well. All though the book would be very good with out the family issues, they do help you to know more about Rebecca and understand her pain even more.

In my opinion this book is fantastic. I did not want to put it down, and in fact read it in a weekend. If you are looking for a book that completely sucks you in then I highly recommend Since You’ve Been Gone by Carlen Thompson.
