Pros: Relatively inexpensive compared to the competition, good performance, mobile and self-contained (no power cord req'd)
Cons: Doesn't instantly eradicate all mosquitoes within a 3 block radius
The Bottom Line: I feel the performance has been very good. The features were appealing to me and I felt the performance-to-cost ratio was better than competing units.

| fjason's Full Review: SkeeterVac |
This wet spring has brought forth one of the worst crops of mosquitoes in years. My house backs onto woodland and the backyard has been unlivable this spring so far. I have a 4 year old daughter and a 6 year old son that used to love to play in the backyard. Now they don't want to go outside. I was fascinated last year when I read the reviews of this new technology in Consumer's Reports. Last year wasn't too bad so I didn't take the plunge. This year, my wife, who never wants to spend money (other than clothes, of course) actually encouraged me to get one of these machines. So I did my research by reviewing Consumer's Reports and on the web. I read these Epinions reviews and the reviews seemed odd that 2 people gave it terrible reviews and two people gave it great reviews. I checked out the specifications between the Mosquito Magnet and the SkeeterVac (the two manufacturers I had narrowed my search to). I selected the SkeeterVac SV-35 because of the coverage area, the CO2 output, the price relative to a comparable Mosquito Magnet and the fact that the propane unit powered everything (no other power cord required). I bought it at Canadian Tire for $429 CDN + tax.
The packaging was very well designed. Everything fit into a relatively small box. The assembly was very easy and the instructions were well written. I felt that the quality of the materials were very good.
It has been in the backyard for 3 days now. To date, I have counted 40 mosquitoes stuck to the adhesive strip that surrounds the CO2 producing "engine". The mesh screen trap had about 30 dehydrated mosquitoes. Even though the instructions qualify the performance by saying that a noticeable difference will only occur in 6 weeks of so, the difference is already significant. There still are a few mosquitoes flying around at dusk, but we have been able to start enjoying the backyard again and the kids actually played in the sandbox this afternoon!
I didn't expect all that much but I have to say that I am impressed with the performance of this unit and feel it is money well spent.
