Pros: Works very well especially in wet areas.
Cons: Fan gets jammed to easily and led connections should be non rusting.
The Bottom Line: This unit is definately worth the money and is less expensive then the mosquito magnet. It has worked very well and has allowed us to enjoy our yard.

I bought my Skeetervac sv35 last May 2004 online from Merrifield garden center in Virginia. They were the lowest priced dealer and they have the tac traps and bait blocks for sale at reasonable prices as well. Anyway, my skeetervac worked very well with mosquitos, deer flies and horse flies. Our land is surrounded by vernal pools, a small marsh and a pond so and our skeetervac reduced the nightmare of swarms of mosquitos very well. It did take a few weeks to notice any real reduction but it has worked. We also get many, MANY gnats or "midges" I believe they are called here in late April and throughout May. I put the Skeetervac out to see if it would work on these head orbiting creatures. It worked very well with the exception that it attracted so many of them through the fan area into the holding screen that the fans stopped working because of the encrusted midge bodies on the fan walls! Twice I had to take it apart,(which is explained in the manual under regular maintenance) and clean the fan area so it would spin freely again. This is somewhat of a pain because I would leave it out there through the midge season but I am worried about the unit overheating when the fan shuts down. So I decided to not put it out again until the midge season is over which is only about a month or so and they die off.
Also, I had to return the engine because of the following problems. The starter button fell out and I could not get it back together because the fitting was too loose and the connections to the l.e.d. lights on the engine were rotted out after only a few months because they were made of steel. Why they didn't make them out of copper I don't know. Blue Rhino the makers of Skeetervac sent us a new engine right away after we faxed our receipt to them as proof of purchase. All in all though this is a good machine that continues to serve us well!
