Pros: Initial cost, effective biting insect attraction, customer support, cordless.
Cons: Reliability, cost of use (propane, bait, sticky tape, etc), portability (no wheels on SV-27).
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend buying this product, but plan on spending some time with Customer Support and using that 1 year warranty.

| turkeysub426's Full Review: SkeeterVac |
Prior to purchasing, I was worried about reliability of both the Mosquito Magnet and the Skeeter Vac. However, I ultimately decided on the Skeeter Vac (SV-27) for its lower cost, cord-free use, and better user ratings for reliability. I bought the item in Nov 2005 with the intention of not using it until the 2006 season.
As soon as I started using the Skeeter Vac in April 2006, it started working great. At that point, it seemed to be picking up more black fly/gnat-like bugs rather than mosquitoes. This was a good thing since those bugs bugged me more than mosquitoes (especially during the day). The sticky tape was about 50% covered within 2 weeks, and the tray was about 1/2 filled in that time. As predicted, a standard propane tank lasts about 30 days. The second tank worked just as well. However, on the third tank, I was unable to get the Skeeter Vac started. I tried all the maintenance items in the users guide, and after a call to Customer Support, I tried all their recommendations. Nothing worked. One more call to Customer Support, and a new engine was on its way.
The new engine arrived roughly two weeks later, and is working like a charm again. Already after 3 days in use, the (new) sticky tape is about 50% covered (with mostly mosquitoes this time), and the tray is almost 1/2 filled. It seems like the mosquito population built up quite a bit in the 2-3 weeks that I went without a working Skeeter Vac.
