Pros: Conversation piece.
Cons: Ugly, ineffective, very expensive to purchase and operate, difficult to light.
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this product. It simply does not work proportionately to it's expensive price.

| vmaxkevin's Full Review: SkeeterVac |
I have had this unit for 1 1/2 years now. I bought it with high hopes based on SkeeterVac's advertising. I can honestly say now that I wish I had kept my money in my pocket.
Firstly, it is not only expensive to purchase but costs about $60.00 a month to run it! The following is a breakdown of MONTHLY consumables in Canadian dollars.
1. Glue board - $15.00
2. Octenol bait pack - $ 30.00
3. Refill on propane bottle - 13.00
Total - $ 58.00 p/month
Secondly, although this unit does seem to attract mosquitoes and houseflies, it only seems to get a small percentage of them. I have a 1/4 acre property in the suburbs of Vancouver B.C. This area is NOT noted to be particularly bad for mosquitoes, but I figured the few that we had would be taken care of by the SkeeterVac. I was wrong.
Thirdly, it is extremely difficult to light. The instructions say that the popping sound indicates ignition. This is technically true in the sense that a small amount of propane has exploded. This is by no means an indication that the "engine" is running. Not by a long shot. In fact it can take 30 minutes or more excercising a propane valve and pushing a red button listening to MANY fruitless popping sounds! During this time you will have an opportunity to reflect on your expensive, ineffective, cumbersome purchase. It is my opinion that the SkeeterVac is a waste of money.
