Pros:Solid construction, durable, quiet, easy to use, pressure system, micro filtration.
Cons:Sawdust a little difficult to remove from filter, indicator lights not visible from top.
The Bottom Line: For $40 at Lowe's this is a fantastic deal. Buy this sander if you want a simple and inexpensive model that does a great job.
This sander is the first random orbit type I have ever owned. I have used it on several projects and it makes quick work out of the sanding chore.

This sander is fairly light and has a good solid feel to it. The rubberized handle on the top lets you control it fairly well. It does not vibrate or shake your hands when you use it, either.
I always use ear protection with my power tools, but this model is fairly quiet. Other than the noise the sanding itself makes, the motor noise is about what you would expect.
Pressure Control System
This model is equipped with an indicator system that shows how much pressure you are applying to the item being sanded. There are 4 lights: 2 green, 1 yellow, and 1 red. One green light is light pressure, two green lights is moderate, and two green and one yellow is high pressure. I have not gotten the red to illuminate so far. That would probably ruin the sandpaper and/or the project! Usually you can tell by the sound, but to evenly sand something the lights will let you know how steady your hand is. Since they are on the side, you can't see the indicator lights from the top if you are sanding something from above, but you can easily move your head a little and see them.
This model uses the hook and loop (i.e. velcro) system to change sanding discs. It is a 5 hole model and it's pretty easy to use. All you do is line up the vent holes and press down. Removal is a snap. Just peel it off. Use any brand you like. It came with a couple of samples.
The first time I used this sander I had full protective gear on, ready for sawdust. It wasn't necessary at all. The built-in filtration on this unit is fabulous. It's probably the best feature. The suction system takes most of the sawdust and runs it through the supplied paper filtration unit, which looks like a miniature air filter from your car. I don't really notice the sawdust much when I use it and other than sanding in tightly enclosed areas, I don't even have to use a dust mask. To empty the filter, you just twist it off and dump it out with a few taps. I usually just put the dust in our composter. Emptying the filter is a little difficult and you can't get everything out of it each time. It would be nice if you could take it apart and give it a good cleaning every once in a while. You can also hook up a shop vac to the vacuum end in lieu of the micro filter.
None really needed, other than emptying the filter.
