Tree Hut Body Scrub Coconut Lime 18 fl oz

I am always on the lookout for a good body scrub, as Bath & Body Works discontinued my favorite scrub several years ago. I came across the Tree Hut brand of Body Scrub and noticed the Coconut Lime scent - for about $6, why not try it? 


Product Details:

Tree Hut Coconut Lime Shea Sugar Body Scrub is a thick sugar scrub that comes in a big, 18 oz. plastic tub with a screw-on lid.  It's aqua green in color and smells heavenly (more on the scent later). 

Tree Hut claims that this scrub provides intense exfoliation, with the sugar grains and ground coconut shells polishing away dead and damaged skin, leaving skin soft and smooth.

The Shea Sugar Scrub also comes in other scents, including Almond & Honey, Brazilian Nut, Hawaiian Kukui and Amazon Pequi. 


Ingredients:

Sugar, glycerin, polysorbate 20, silica, lime extract, coconut extract, shea butter, ascorbic acid, retinyl palmitate, safflower seed oil, evening primrose oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, orange oil, fragrance, jojoba esters, coconut shell powder, polyethylene, 
chromium hydroxide green, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl Glycol, sorbic acid.


My Experience:

I like a thick body scrub with nice big granules of sugar. I feel that the larger granules do a better job of exfoliating than the smaller ones. I also like scrubs that contain oil, as they moisturize the skin as it is being exfoliated.

I do not use scrubs very often, as I don't think it's a good idea to exfoliate the body skin frequently, so I tend to use this scrub only about once per week. That is enough to get rid of dry, rough skin. I also get the occasional psoriasis patch, so I have to work around those. You might think that psoriasis needs to be scrubbed because of the excess skin cells it creates, but it can really irritate the area and make it worse.

A little bit of this scrub goes a long way. I use about two tablespoons every time I use it, which is an amount I just eyeball (who has time to measure in the morning?). About one tablespoon for both arms and one tablespoon for both legs. This scrub is easy to spread around and is quick and easy to use. The little bit of oil it contains makes it easier to use.

You will want to be careful with your bath tub floor or shower floor when using this, because the oil could make them slippery. I haven't had any issues with this, even though scrubbing is one of the last things I do in the shower and hair washing process. I think that the hot water and shampoo rinse it off the tub floor and wash it down the drain. 

When I'm done using Tree Hut Coconut Lime Shea Sugar Body Scrub, my skin is very soft, smooth and moisturized. It does a nice job of smoothing out rougher areas like elbows and knees. My skin is softly scented with the delicious, tropical coconut and lime scent when I am out of the shower and am dried off. I love that scent!

This product performs as well as my beloved Bath & Body Works product, which was about three times the cost of the Tree Hut product. I am sticking with Tree Hut for now, as it performs very well and I have no reason to stop using it, especially when taking the price into consideration.
