The Original Fruity version contains green-lime, red-strawberry, orange-orange, yellow-lemon, and purple-grape. Your getting a little chewy candy that resembles an M&M in shape. They are bite sized candies. They are round but sort of look like flattened little balls. They have a white "S" imprinted on each and every Skittle candy. Skittle come in a variety of different variations. You may have to experiment to find a version that suits you best. Here recently we bought a bag of Skittles Original and come to find out they were featuring a special edition, and had replaced the green-lime with the Carnival Flavored Green Slushy. I like that flavor so much better than I do the lime. I wish they would keep it around. It is lighter in flavor than the lime, and is much tastier.
The lemon and lime are my least favorites. My son likes those so I save these for him. The lemon sort of taste like a lemon dish soap, and the lime, taste sort of.. well I can't explain. I will just say weird. The grape sort of tastes a bit bitter after you chew it, it screams artificial flavoring. My kids love them so it works out. I love the red and orange, and now the carnival green slushy flavor the most. The red taste like an artificial strawberry but very pleasant tasting. The orange reminds me of an orange sherbert, also very tasty. The original flavors are more sweet with a bit of tartness. They do make them in other versions and some of them are REALLY tart. Be sure to read the labels and pay attention to the version you are getting, because some of them really taste crazy, and I think they are more geared toward younger children.
When you bite into a Skittle you will go through a crunchy sweet shell followed by a chewy lightly colored center. I grew up enjoying Skittles. I guess I sort of grew out of enjoying them so often. They tast ok, but I couldn't eat them all the time like the kids could if I would let them.
We pay around 89 cents for a 2.17 oz bag. I can't tell what the date are on the package. It is typed in some sort of code. I dislike Skittles when they are not fresh. I have had them so stale that they become so hard you can't chew them. When they are fresh they are so soft.

Overall?
This product has a lot of carbs and sugar. I would recommend using it sparingly. I am not fond of all of the flavors but do like some of them. I will recommend them but I would say they are nothing special, and would consider them to be just an ordinary sugar fix without the bells or whistles. I much prefer some of their other Skittles versions as far as taste goes. Skittles Original comes in the red bag.
