I had seen these on Ebay for under $13 and I was intrigued because they looked great and were billed as being more comfortable and having some noise cancellation value. I've never been able to use earbuds because they are uncomfortable and will not stay in my ear. I wanted to try earbuds on my new Sansa Fuze 8gb unit, as headphones would be just too big.
I was impressed with the specs in the package when it came from Ebay. The billed features included:
*11mm speaker diameter
*20 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency range, a fairly extensive range for an inexpensive unit
*1.3-meter cable with 3.5mm gold plated plug, right sized for my Fuze
*Stylish in-ear design blocks outside noise, The colors were nice
*includes 3 different sizes of silicone ear tips, nice extras
The buds were comfortably initially and did cancel out noise. They fit snugly in my ears, and I was able to use them comfortable for 1 ½ to 2 hours.
As for sound quality, I listened to some favorite jazz music and compared these to my $125 Bose Triport headphones and the earbuds that came with the Fuze.
The Fuze earbuds were knocked out of the box right away. They didn't fit in my ear and wouldn't stay.
These were remarkably good, though. They really reproduced the saxophones in the music I was listening to. The highs and lows reproduced faithfully. Compared to the Bose, the mid range was a little bland, not quite as rich and the Bose unit reproduced the saxes marginally better. The other thing I noticed that the cymbals were a little too tinny and the toms bit artificial at high volumes, but that, again was compared to the Bose, to headphones that cost ten times as much as what I paid for the Skullcandy Ear Buds.
The Bose's marginal superiority on percussion was magnified on fusion (jazz rock) pieces as compared to jazz. I also through there was slighly too much of a basss bost on the fusion cuts.
I was surprised at the overall sound quality. It was clearly better than I expected.
The cord length would seem short, but for my very small Fuze, it's a very comfortable.
I listen to music to give me pleasure. I enjoyed listening to good music on these.
I can report that these are an excellent value for great sound reproduction and I can recommend them highly.
5 stars.
Thanks for reading. God bless!
