What do a group of energetic and closely bonded preteen girls need for the perfect sleepover? Well, a deluxe sleeper sofa, of course! At least my daughter and the makers of the Only Hearts Club dolls both agree on that point. Once it became clear to my daughter that she would be able to start collecting the Only Hearts Club dolls, the first accessory she wanted was the totally tricked out sleeper sofa. Of course, being the cheapskate that I am, I only agreed to a sleeping bag at first. However, I eventually caved and on her 9th birthday, my daughter opened the Only Hearts Club Sleeper Sofa. If only my wishes and desires could be satisfied so easily…

Furniture Destined to Delight Preteen Girls

Although it doesn’t exactly match my tastes, the Only Hearts Club Sleeper Sofa is a dream come true for girly girls like my daughter. The foam filled sofa is bright pink with multi-colored stars and two generous end arms. The seat cushion of the sofa is purple with stars. The cushion folds out twice to make a full length, queen size doll bed. At the end of the bed is a shiny velvet turquoise blanket with a colorful trim on the top edge. Finally, there are two velvety turquoise heart-shaped pillows with fuzzy pink trim.

The sofa measures 10 1/2 inches from side to side. When the bed is pulled out, the cushion measures 10 1/2 inches long by 7 1/2 inches wide. The important thing is that it is big enough to fit at least four of the Only Hearts Club dolls (and their cuddly pups). I’m not sure where the other two remaining dolls in the club are suppose to go but there are sleeping bags you can buy so perhaps that handles the overflow at a well-attended sleepover.

Additional Pieces?

You can buy a matching Club Chair with Ottoman to go with this sleeper sofa. Hey, that’ll hold at least one more of the dolls! I spotted one of these at Target and almost bought it but someone had cut off the heart-shaped pillows so I decided to pass.

The Magic of Sleepovers

I don’t know why, but accessories like this Only Hearts Club Sleeper Sofa and the Only Hearts Club Sleeping Bag (which we also own) are a huge draw for my daughter. I suspect it’s because they reflect the high priority in her social life for sleepovers with friends. Nothing breaks down barriers like borrowing your best friend’s pajamas and staying up all night giggling.

This sleeper sofa absolutely delighted my daughter and it certainly keeps her entertained. The price tag of $19.99 seems quite steep, which is why I held out initially. In the long run, I think it was a worthwhile purchase because the sleeper sofa appears to be durable and will likely outlast my daughter’s interest in adorable dolls like the Only Hearts Club dolls. That will be a sad day…
