Slim-Fast 1-2-3 shakes are designed to replace your breakfast and/or lunch.  Low calorie, low fat, full of vitamins, and designed to curb hunger for several hours, these shakes could be part of a weight-loss plan.

The shakes can be bought as a powder which you mix with milk, or they can be bought ready-made in the can.  When I'm home, I like to use the powder and my blender to make a thick, frosty shake.  But when I'm at work, or for some other reason grabbing a quick meal on-the-go, the cans are very convenient.  This review is for the canned Cappuccino Delight Flavor.

The cans are 11 oz. and are sold in drugstores and grocery stores.  The 6-pack of cans costs around $6, making the shakes around a dollar each.

The can contains 190 calories, 50 of which are from fat.  There are 210 mg of sodium, 5g of fiber, 18g of sugar.  There's a long list of vitamins, most of which are listed as 35% of the recommended daily dose.  The main ingredients are fat free milk, water and sugar.  I have noticed that Slim-Fast has changed their formulas lately so I don't want to list all of the ingredients here, as they're likely to be different than the product you buy.  But of course, if you're going to start any kind of diet or meal-replacement regimen, you should check out the ingredients yourself, to decide if the product is right for you.  You can also check out wwwhttp://www.slim-fast.com for more info.

The cans are designed to replace a breakfast or lunch, and to curb hunger for the next 4 hours.  I don't always get the full 4 hours from it, but I do agree these shakes are satisfying.  I drink them very slowly, and make them last for 1/2 hour or so.  Not so easy to do, with only 11oz. to work with, but I find that drinking it slowly helps to give my body the impression that it ate a full meal.

The consistency is something a bit thicker than chocolate milk, but not what I really call shake-like.  It's not "airy" like a blender-made drink would be. 

As far as the taste goes, I have to admit that this flavor is not my favorite.  I bought it hoping it would make a nice change from the standard chocolate and vanilla.  Plus, I love coffee, and most coffee-flavored items, so I was really hoping that this shake would taste something like a specialty iced coffee drink that you buy at Starbucks.  Sadly, it didn't really work out that way.  While there is a bit of a coffee flavor in these shakes, it just doesn't satisfy the coffee-drinker part of me. 

In general, I like the Slim-Fast line of shakes and intend to continue using them as meal replacements.  While the Cappuccino Delight flavor is not ‘terrible', for the most part, I'll stick with the other flavors that are offered.
