You've seen the commercials urging you to join the Slim-fast way of life. Slim-fast has over the years extended their product line to include many different forms of packaged nutrition. The mainstay of their line though has remained the liquid shake.
Rich Chocolate Royale
French Vanilla
Strawberries and Creme
Creamy Milk Chocolate
Dark Chocolate Fudge
Cappuccino Delight
Soy Based Shakes
Orange-Strawberry-Banana
Apple-Cranberry-Raspberry
Orange-Pineapple
The nutrition facts give or take a few calories is the same for all the shakes.
220 calories- they call it energy
Total Fat- 3grams
Cholesterol- 5 mg
Sodium- 220 mg
Potassium- 600 mg
Protein- 10g
And more vitamins and minerals than you can shake a stick at. You are getting everything a human being needs in a day.
The taste is okay. I've experimented with all flavors and found that I hate the soy based. I dislike Vanilla and Strawberries and Creme both have an artificial taste. I'd rather eat chalk. I,however, love the Chocolate shakes. They are creamy and fill that little sweets void.
In the Slim-Fast Corporations' dreams you would ideally drink their shakes twice a day and eat a sensible meal for dinner. That's in their dreams not yours. The shakes are not filling. Kind of like some Chinese foods you are hungry again in half an hour. So that's where their snack bars come in. After a while this all gets a little pricey. Where I live I can pick up a can for 97 cents, a case for 4.97, and the bars for 97 cents.
You must exercise for this program to even begin to work and once you go back to eating regular food-you will gain the weight back unless you have learned proper eating habits which this plan does not help you to learn.
Lauren Hutton-famous gapped tooth model- had recently wrote a book called the Body*Mind*Makeover basically just pitching the Slim-Fast way of life. Its a 14 day meal plan featuring the shakes and bar snacks that have made Slim-Fast a household word. My advice would be to read the package inserts they give you the condensed version of the book.
I don't recommend this diet. It is a waste of time and money. You still have to provide 100 percent willpower which isn't a bad thing except the commercials make you feel that you will have a crutch. You will not have a crutch. You will think of food constantly while drinking your little shake. You will pig out during your dinner-it will not be sensible in any way.
Don't put yourself through the pain of hunger and disappointment. Did I mention that even IF you reach your target weight you are then advised to drink one shake a day for weight management? They got you for life.
