Pros: Children can't open the safe or see what is inside.
Cons: You might need more than one if you have lots of medication.
My mail order prescriptions come in large bottles that are so easy to open, so when my daughter was born I was concerned about keeping them away from her. Many of the kids in my family are expert climbers, so even a high cabinet may not be a safe place! I plan to put locks on my cabinets, but these drugs I take daily are very dangerous and I wanted another layer of protection. There are times when I need to take my medicine out of the cabinets to sort out all the pills.
The safe is made of a thick, opaque plastic and it is very sturdy. I had a difficult time at first opening the lid, so it is unlikely that a child will be able to do it. The locking mechanism does not take any strength to squeeze or turn, it moves easily. What is tricky is squeezing and turning the knob at the same time so it comes open. If you turn the lock too far or you don't turn it far enough, you can't open the lid. After I practiced using the lock a few times, I was able to open it quickly and easily.
The safe is small enough to put in either an upper or lower cabinet. I did not have a problem putting the large mail order medicine bottles in it. However, I may need another one because let's face it, there is a lot of medicine in most people's cabinets!
