Pros: Nice, refreshing flavor, not too spicy, not overly "fruity".
Cons: small portion size, but it tides you over until snack time!
The Bottom Line: Weight Watchers has created a very nice dish to add to their line up and I know I will add it to mine!

| Magick1's Full Review: Smart Ones Orange Sesame Chicken |
When I saw the Fruit Inspirations by Weight Watchers ® Smart Ones® line, I decided I would have to try them out. The first one that crossed my path was the Orange Sesame Chicken and I grabbed it up on my last shopping trip.
I have enjoyed other Chinese dishes that they offer and I thought this would be a terrific change of pace from the pastas and other items I have been eating lately. I was glad that I did try it, it will become one in my rotation from the Weight Watcher® foods! Now, I think, the variety they offer is giving me a different selection for virtually every work day in a months time! That keeps me from being bored of the selection and keeps my taste buds truly happy!
The Product
This is a very nice chicken dish. There are chicken tenderloins smothered in a zesty sesame orange sauce with rice. Overall, the flavor, to me, was not super zippy or zesty. But, it was very nice. It might be just a touch too orange-y, but it was not terribly over done. I enjoyed the flavor, it was light and tasted really quite nice. There were about 5 decent sized pieces of chicken tenderloins, a smattering of sesame seeds and a decent helping of rice offered in this dish.

The ingredients are one of the larger lists that that I have seen for this product line. I guess that is because there is a lot to offer in this dish! Please see the information below. If it helps you avoid something that you cannot eat, then typing it out is useful!

This would be a good time to share with you the Weight Watchers ® points value, so that if you are watching the points for this program, you will know where to fit it into your daily or weekly plan. I do not participate in this program, so I am not sure how the points program works. But, the value for this particular meal is 7 points!
Overall Impressions
As with any and all of the Weight Watchers ® Smart Ones® meals, they are quick in the microwave. This particular one only takes 3 to 3 ½ minutes depending on your microwave, if it is directly out of the freezer, etc. If you do need to do this in a conventional oven, it will take (just to cook the dish) 35 minutes on 350 degrees. That is quite a difference in time!
Everything was pretty much separated out. It seemed the chicken was at one side partially covered with sauce, the sauce with sesame seeds sprinkled on the top was in the middle and the rice was on the other side! This was a one dish meal, no compartmentalizing of the foods. It seems like others are being divided up to separate the items in the dish.
The flavor, as mentioned, was a quite orange-y, it was not terrible, but it was very noticeable. They state the sauce is zesty on the box, but I did not think it was too bad. The orange might be a bit heavy for some. But, to me, the combination of flavors was very nice and tasted great. The rice had flecks of green and red peppers in it, but they were not very prevalent. They say, everything in moderation, right?
Regardless of the moderation, the dish was very good and the presentation looked nice and the dish tasted very nice! I will definitely be purchasing this product again. If you try this, I hope you enjoy it as much!
