| Magick1's Full Review: Smart Ones Salisbury Steak |
As you can probably guess, I have been trying a lot of Weight Watchers® Smart Ones® meals lately. I have been typing up a storm writing about my experiences to share with you here. I have only found one meal that I definitely did not enjoy. Considering I have never really tried asparagus, I am not 100% sure why I picked this meal, other than for the Salisbury steak!
As are all of the Smart Ones® meals, this is very easy to prepare in the microwave! It states that you are to microwave it for 4 minutes, take off the cover and go another 2 minutes. By the time I usually get to fix my lunches, the initial amount normally works fine for me. There are conventional oven cooking instructions, but to prepare this dish, not including the oven warm up time, it will take 45 minutes.
The Product
This is a really basic dish with a nice sized patty of beef with mushroom gravy sauce. The flavor was extremely enjoyable and was very tender. There are plenty of asparagus pieces included with this meal as well!
It does state that this dish contains 1 full serving of vegetables. So, if you are watching your serving amounts, this will knock out one serving of vegetables! Its nice sometimes to have things like this already portioned out so you dont have to guess what is a full serving or not!

Overall Impressions
I enjoyed the flavor tremendously in this meal. The asparagus, mind you, was a first for me. I think the microwave really drew the moisture out of the asparagus as it appeared wrinkly and dried out, even though I kept the plastic cover over the top while preparing it. The flavor wasnt bad. The asparagus was crispy, tender like a good steamed vegetable should be. But, it did not look very good.
The Salisbury steak was tender, and really could have been cut with a fork. The plastic forks we use at work are really very flimsy; therefore, I used a knife and fork to cut it. There was a decent amount of the mushroom gravy included. I am not a big fan of gravies normally, but this gravy was very nice.
Next time, I think I will cook it a little less than the package instructions and hopefully, the asparagus will not be wrinkly and look really dried out. Mind you, they were not dry to eat, but they sure did not look appealing!
The points system used by Weight Watchers® has this meal listed as a 4 point meal. But, one thing to watch, especially if you have to watch sodium intake, is this meal. It is kind of high! But, this is what gives it some flavor, I am sure. It is a filling meal and quick. The price is usually really decent too, as I can find them in the local markets on sale for 3 meals for $5.00. You just cannot beat that price!
If you like mushrooms and beef products, this might be a meal you should try. Its a hearty, good, home-cooked flavor and it was very enjoyable! This is another one that I would definitely enjoy and will purchase in the future!
I wanted to say thank you to Bruguru for getting this on the Epinions website! It's appreciated!
~Thanks for spending time with me today!~
