| Magick1's Full Review: Smart Ones Teriyaki Chicken & Vegetables |
I keep looking for new meals to try for work. I get bored with the same things every day or even every week. Smart Ones® meals provide a lot of variety, which I enjoy. Every time I go to the store to stock up on my meals for the next couple of weeks, I find something new to try.
This one was one that caught my attention and, again, I am glad that it did! The flavor, the combination of ingredients and the price make this a wonderfully delightful meal!
The Product
This meal has grilled white meat chicken, Asian-style vegetables served in a sweet and spicy teriyaki sauce over white rice. There are broccoli pieces, carrots and water chestnuts in this dish! The vegetables were also very good. They definitely know how to make the vegetables as if they were just steamed. They are not overly done (mushy) and they are not under done (too crisp). The teriyaki flavor was wonderfully done, as it was not too spicy, not too sweet and definitely was not overpowering the vegetables or the chicken.
The combination of everything gives you a wonderful experience, bite after bite! There was a good amount of broccoli available in this meal. Carrots and water chestnuts on the other hand, I felt were a bit light. I would have enjoyed more of both of these!
The white rice was good, but I would prefer seeing more brown or wild rice in this, rather than all white rice. The meal has a Weight Watchers® point value of 4. This has to be one of the lowest value dishes that I have tried.
The preparation is quick and easy for microwaving, like all of these Smart Ones® dished tend to be. It takes only about 3 4 minutes! If you must do it the conventional way, it will take about 35 minutes on 350.

Overall Impressions
The teriyaki flavoring was very nice. I liked the flavor having a slightly sweet yet spicy taste. It was not overbearing and it was not wimpy to where you could not taste it. The vegetables, as mentioned above, were done very well and there was ample rice, chicken and vegetables making this dish filling and nutritious!
If you like having some spice but do not like being knocked off the chair by the spices, this probably would be a decent selection for most. I know years gone by, I used to eat jalapenos directly from the jar. Today, I cannot say that. As a matter of fact, I dont think I have eaten jalapenos for years, as they no longer agree with me. But, this did not bother me in the slightest! It was delicious!
