smh32775's Full Review: Smashbox Bronzing Photo Finish Foundation Primer
I recently received a sample of the Smashbox product Photo Finish Primer. I was excited to try it since the other 2 primers I already own have been less than thrilling. The sample came as .08oz. The actual product is in a white and black "bottle" with alittle under 1oz of product.
Are you ready for your close up?
The concept of a primer is to prepare for face for foundation. It is made to fill in lines and creases and make your skin appear to be smoother. One important thing I've learned from my attempts at using a primer is that just like moisturizer, you have to wait at least 15 minutes for it to be completely absorbed and ready for foundation.
Photo finish has a gel like consistancy (personally, I think it feels a tad greasy). It goes on clear and has little scent. I made sure to put it on my forehead wrinkles (from years of squinting at the chalkboard in school) since that would be the true test.
The Finalized Look
After applying my makeup, I asked my fiancee if he thought I looked any different. Typical guy said no so I headed back to the mirror for a close examination.
Although my skin did appear to be smoother in many areas, you could still see the creases in my forehead. My skin also could have been used as a reflector, photo finish make my skin look really oily. Upon touch, my face feel slimy. I went about my day to see how long my shiny look would remain. About 4 hours later, my shine, along with the rest of my make up seemed to have slid off my face. Through out the day, whenever I would touch my face, remanents of the photo finish would come off in my hands.
Fortunetly, using Photo Finish did not cause any major breakouts for my skin. I think it's because it didn't stay on long enough to do any harm. By the end of my day, I had little make up left on my face when I used my Dove towelette.

I did not even finish using my sample size. This is a prime example of why I like to sample things before committing myself to the heafty pricetags. For now, I will stick with my cover girl primer.
