leafsbabe01's Full Review: Smashbox Photo Finish Mini Foundation Primer
In an effort to get a product to smooth out my skin, and help my foundation last a bit longer throughout the day, I stumbled across Smashbox's PHOTO FINISH Foundation Primer.
WHAT SMASHBOX SAYS:
The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants smooths and perfects skin, while the unique formula helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Use after moisturizer and before foundation for complexion perfection. This skin-soothing blend of antioxidants, which can be worn alone or under foundation, works overtime to fill in fine lines and even out skin texture.
Primer is a great thing, when you have less than perfect skin, and if you, like me, have oily or combo skin.
Smashbox's PHOTO FINISH primer has been known to be the top of the line among it's competitor's, or so I've read. SO, eventually, I caved, ran to Sephora and picked one up.
PRICE & AVAILABILITY
The mini 0.50 oz size will run around $17 and comes in a squeeze tube, or you can pick up a full sized 0.93 oz which comes with a pump for $36.
Both ULTA and Sephora carry the Smashbox PHOTO FINISH primer and usually have unlimited stock of it given it's popularity, in my experience anyhow.
Although it is pricey, primer lasts a lot longer than moisturizers do given that they are so concentrated and spread very easily.
I only use a pea sized amount (much less than I use of my daily moisturizer) and smooth it on.
I love that Smashbox PHOTO FINISH foundation primer is easy to apply, my makeup does go on smoother and it does last slightly longer. Not long enough to justify the price tag however.
All in all, I've tried primers that work much better for my ultra sensitive, combo, acne prone skin. I usually can tolerate silicone based primers just fine, but not this one. Unfortunately, this broke my skin out in a matter of days, I tried starting and stopping many times to make sure it was indeed the primer and not another part of my beauty routine, but this indeed was the culprit!
They have come out with a light version which is supposed to work better for combo skin which I may go back and try once my skin has recovered.
Overall, if your skin isn't breakout prone, this may work for you wonderfully, but I would hesitate recommending this to someone with a similar skin type to mine.
Developed to increase the durability of foundation under hot studio lights, Photo Finish from smashbox is sure keep your makeup in place all day long....More at QVC
