The Smith Victor Kt1000 is a great low priced lighting system for your photographic needs. It is designed for basic lighting requirements at a great affordable price. This kit is made for the low budget person in mind with a price of around $125.
The Kit
You get two sets of lights that consist of:
Two 12 inch round reflectors constructed of a high-strength aluminum. The outside of the reflectors are a black baked on enamel for quality and assurance to last longer. The inside of the reflectors have chemically etched interiors for the best light dispersion. On the stands the reflectors can be angled in almost any position, up and down and 360 around.
Inside of each reflector is a corded light socket that holds an ECT 500 watt 3200k flood lamp, multiple the 500 watts times two and you have the 1000 watts kit.
The stands for the reflectors are also have a black baked on enamel that is constructed from a very sturdy steel. The stands can be adjusted from about two feet to six feet in height.
The kit comes in a corrugated carrying case that can be used for storage. They also include and Imaging with Light Guide. The total kit weighs about 12 pounds.
Uses
The Smith Victor Kt1000 is great for setting up an area for shooting a well lighted photo from any type of camera. Most camera flashes do a fine job but they only cover the front of your subject. The Victor Kt1000 gives you the opportunity to make lighting brighter, light up the sides of your photo and even the background of your photo. You can experiment with the light kit to get results that are not possible with out it.
For you movie cameras it is great for lighting up your room to give your movies a brighter and cleaner looking movie.
Other uses can be for working on the car, you can adjust it to the right height and angle to light up under your hood for making it easy to work on.
Overall
For the price it is hard to beat especially with the quality that is built into the lights and stands.
I find them very handy in rooms lighted up with florescence lighting because photos seem to need that extra light under these conditions.
There are various uses for the light but my preference is being able to get a great portrait shot. I have also use them once for lighting up our basketball area outside at night but they do attract those bugs.
