Pros: For the $999 it has a huge belt and huge 2.5 HP motor
Cons: we could criticize the slight lack of equipment- such as a heart rate monitor.
The Bottom Line: It feels like it will last a life time and with that 10 year warranty it probably will.

| sophiag's Full Review: Smooth 5.0P Treadmill |
For overall value this has to be one of the best treadmills on the market. A powerful 2.5HP motor is coupled with a generous belt/deck size and 9 preset programs. The only thing lacking is heart rate monitoring but for $999 (including shiping) there's no comparison... just buy a Polar A1 monitor $50. Users have given the 5.0P top marks at Epinions and not suprisingly it's been Smooth's best selling treadmill for many years.
The continuous horsepower of all Smooth treadmills is at least 2.5hp (remember this relates to how powerful your treadmill can continually operate without dropping off). If you're a runner/fast walker you want at least 1.5hp and ideally 2.0hp. The top speed on all but one of their models is 10mph, which is not far off a flat out sprint (not recommended on a treadmill!).
You can customize half of the Smooth treadmills range. Smooth promote this as "design your own treadmill" but in reality you can only alter two or three features lowering or raising the price by $200-$300.
