Pros: quiet, sturdy, good value

The Bottom Line: if I had seen this on a showroom, I personally would NOT have bought it; so my recommendation is very qualified.

| grappamaker's Full Review: Smooth 5.0P Treadmill |
the treadmill itself is adequate, steady on it's feet and quiet. But the design and operation of the control panel is awkward. the control panel seems flimsy and gives the appearance it will not last long. The panel is a 'touch-screen' and seems wimpy. I felt unsure of it's reactions; there are long delays when power is turned on and when the start button is pushed; all contributing to feeling that the treadmill is not responsive.
Trying to figure out the control panel is a REAL chore. It is NOT at all intuitive. The manual is virtually worthless in telling how to operate the treadmill. When I called the tech line, it took three techs before someone knew how it worked. The senior tech said they were aware that all their manuals were not good and they were working on them BUT that he had no feeling that they would be done anytime soon.
So good luck trying to get all the details of how this treadmill works AND of it's programming AND of it's trouble codes AND of it's other 'hidden' good features.
think of programming a cheap VCR, one without a guide book; and then triple that frustration. that is this machine!
If you just want to step on and go, it will be fine; but if you want to figure out the set programs, program your own...get a crystal ball.
The mere lack of a decent operation book, reflects badly on the company and makes me have concerns about the rest of the treadmill.
the treadmill also goes to mid-level of incline when power is turned on; then it has to go to an incline level based on either the preset program or one of your own choosing. Then when power is shut off, the incline again changes levels. this extra work seems uncalled for and will make the incline mechanism wear out before it's time. i would rather see the incline level stay at it's last setting. then when the machine was turned on again, it should be at that last setting when last turned off; rather than raising up, then back down as it does. this extra altering of incline levels is a drain on time and machine.
This is our 3rd treadmill, so we are not novices.
