| rfurbert's Full Review: Smooth 5.0P Treadmill |
I love to walk/jog, but don't have the time or desire to always walk outside, so a treadmill seemed like a good idea.
I had no idea that there were literally hundreds of treadmills to choose from. So to decide on which one was right for me, I visited web sites, read the reviews of others (people like the treadmill doctor and folks like you here at epinions), checked out a couple treadmills at my local retailers, and ultimately chose the Smooth 5.0.
What made me buy the Smooth 5.0 was its warranty, motor size, incline capability, variable settings options, belt size, good looks, fold-up option, price. All in all, it just seemed like the mill for me.
With all of that said, now two months later I must say I am extremely satisfied with this treadmill! It was everything everyone said it would be and then some!
I started using my Smooth treadmill on January 20th, 2003, and I enjoy it so much that I make it a point to walk/jog on it every other day. Under my feet, it feels smooth, stable, sturdy, and very professional. There is nothing rinky-dink about this machine. It is A-1 all the way.
I love the incline feature, the easy-touch controls, the easy-to-read and easy-to-set display. I just love it period!
Some people say that treadmills are boring. Well, to them I say they are just boring people who don't know how to enjoy themselves. Personally, I put in some jamming music, and run or walk for 60 minutes, and am never bored at all. Some days I go all out at the highest incline. Some days I sprint. Some days I speed walk. I keep it interesting.
As a matter of fact, I prefer my mill to walking or jogging outside. My husband even calls me a treadmill snob now. When we are in our car driving, if I see someone walking outside, I say, "See, that person ... that's someone who doesn't have a treadmill." (tee-hee-hee). Yes, I have become the treadmill queen, and I owe it all to Smooth!
Seriously, the treadmill is great because you can use it anytime, and you don't have to worry about bad weather, dogs, bad drivers, weirdos, et cetera.
I was never overweight or anything, but I just wasn't getting enough exercise. Now, after two months of using my Smooth treadmill, my heart feels healthier, my butt looks tighter, I sleep better at night. My husband says my skin looks brighter. I'm just in better overall health.
The only "con" to the treadmill is that because it has a standard setting, it can't be 100% accurate for every person who uses it. For example, it will read that I've run 1 mile at 5.3 mph in a little over 11 minutes. Well, I happen to know for a fact that I run a mile in less time than that, for sure in under 8 minutes. And when it says that I've walked 4 miles in an hour, I know that I can usually easily walk 5 miles in an hour. But that doesn't bother me too much, because when I log my time in my little exercise book, I know that I've actually done even better than it says.
All in all, I love my new Smooth 5.0 treadmill, and I am glad that I bought it. :-)
** By the way, a word to the wise: When they say, "back of the truck delivery," that's what they mean. So if you need help setting this up, you'd better pay the extra $50.

UPDATE: Today is December 5, '03, and I've had my Smooth 5.0 treadmill for 11 months now, and I must say... I STILL LOVE IT!!
I still try to use it at least three times a week, and I haven't had any problems with it.
I have seen improvement in my overall endurance, speed, et cetera, and I know for a fact it is because of my time spent on the mill!
No regrets here. My Smooth Treadmill experience really has been SMOOTH!
