Pros: Fairly priced, good motor warranty, solid walking surface
Cons: Poor owners manual, have had some service problems
The Bottom Line: Fairly happy with the unit. Lot's to look at out there in the way of treadmills these days. Can be a tough choice.

| tankerjo's Full Review: Smooth 5.0P Treadmill |
I'm not much at writing reviews but will give it a shot.
I purchased my Smooth 5.0 last August. The treadmill was delivered in less than a week and the driver removed it from the back of the truck and offered to wheel it into my garage so that was that. Unpacking and inspection was easy and after giving it a test run I moved it into our bedroom.
We were amazed at how quiet it was compared to our old sub $600.00 4 year old department store treadmill that it was replacing. The unit seemed as solid as a rock and for the most part we were very happy with the treadmill.
Several months ago the treadmill developed a noisy knock that seemed to be coming from the rear roller, likewise it also started to pick up similar sounds from the front, also the rear wheel on the elevation arm kept popping off. I called Keys (who makes it for Smooth) and they sent replacement rollers and a wheel set and made arrangements for a service person to come out on warranty to replace/repair the unit. This took several weeks. The parts were replaced and all was well until this week when the mechanism that allows the treadmill to be raised and lowered jammed and now the treadmill is currently sitting in my garage while I try to fix it. I am less than happy with the design of the folding feature on the Smooth 5.0 and since the owners manual offers little or no information such as an expanded view of parts and such it leaves me at the mercy of either trying to sort it out over the phone with the company or bringing out a service tech for something that may well be an easy fix.
Found the owners manual just about useless if repairs are needed. When I called Keys they said the manuals are being re-written so I hope that solves that problem.
So maybe I'm just to hard on my treadmill. I use it daily and I mean everyday in the mornings and often I jump back on in the evening. Used mostly for walking but also a bit of jogging at times. I have recently purchased another Key's treadmill (Encore 4500), also a folding type but with a better an less complicated folding mechanism and with larger rollers as well as a wider walking belt and a 2 year service warranty on parts and labor included. My wife gets the Smooth 5.0 when I get it repaired and it should serve her well since she is more of the 2-3 times a week treadmill type.
