Pros: quiet (when running), handles higher weights, service department is responsive (calls and shipping).
Cons: down couple of weeks when breaks down, manual doesn't match settings, only couple preset courses.
The Bottom Line: Wouldn't buy again - wanted/needed a dependable treadmill - making good progress on speed and distance then it breaks, get setback while waiting for repair - breaks too often.

| srchin's Full Review: Smooth 7.1 Power Folding Treadmill |
First of all I'm a big person - 6'4 250 lbs. I bought this treadmill because it's rated for 350 lbs. I run for about 3 miles, 3 - 4 times a week. Well, I've had this treadmill almost 2 years now.
I bought the treadmill because of the long warranties (longer than most I saw) and the large running pad. I thought it had preset courses, the online description was a bit misleading on that point. The fact that it folded was kind of a plus but didn't factor into my purchase plan.
When it came my son and I moved it down stairs ourselves. This is a kinda heavy treadmill. Even folded a "normal" person would have a tough time moving it around. After putting it together and starting it, I noticed that the incline stayed at 1% - I was told this was normal. Ok, so I used it fine for about 7 months. Then the LED went out. Since then I've gone thru 4 LCD screens, the front fly wheel bolt BROKE off ( which I was told NEVER happens), the rear roller was replaced and now the fly wheel bolt is broke again (A never happens that happened twice). Called Smooth and asked if they would declare it a lemon or do something about it - was told that all this maintenance was "normal" so they couldn't help me on that front. Had a Proform treadmill that cost me $500 and it lasted 3 years before replacing, never broke once. This Smooth treadmill is a top of the line treadmill and it's broken like 7 times in 2 years?
Service told me that I had a 5 yr warranty on parts, 3 on electronics and 10 on motor - of course I still have to pay for the technician to come out twice - once to diagnose, then again to install parts. I've probably been down almost 2 - 3 months in the past 2 years.
I like the treadmill when it's working - Quiet, long/wide deck, no bounce in deck (even with my weight running at 7 MPH), no fluctuating speeds ( happened to me on non-continuous drive treadmills) and handles don't get in my way when running. But being down every couple of months for at least a week and costing $50 to fix (minimum) each time lowers my satisfaction with it.
