In the past I bought a home gym and treadmill online from AdvancedFitness.com. The treadmill is a Smooth 8.8, which I purchased over a couple of years ago. At that time I sent a favorable testimonial to the sales rep. I was recently contacted by them and asked if I would write a review for epinions. She mentioned that there was a previous review written from a suspicious source that negatively skewed the ratings. We’ll overall my impression of both the treadmill and the company service has been very favorable and I agreed to add my two cents or few hundred words.

I noticed numerous people reviewing their “new” Smooth treadmills and overall they seemed to be satisfied. You generally see in the cons section that there are no problems. Of course, it is brand new.
I believe that the true test of a treadmill comes over time, not unlike a car. Sure a treadmill will feel sturdy and be relatively quiet when you first get it. But what happens after you have logged 1,000 miles. Most treadmills get sloppy and noisy after regular use. The Smooth 8.8 has held up very well. The belt has required occasional adjustments, but that is an easy process. It helps to keep the belt and deck clean. From what I have read dust and dirt are major factors in the break down of treadmills.
My 8.8 still has a sturdy and stable feel to it and it remains relatively quiet. I can clearly hear Maria Bartiromo on CNBC every morning. Which is a requirement with any treadmill I purchase.
The electronic are all completely functional including the heart rate control. I don’t tend to use the pre-set programs or the user programs. I just let the HRC control the speed of the unit. Good for preventing strokes. I noticed that the current units come standard with larger motors. It seems to be an industry trend. The 2.25 HP motor has held up well. It comes with a 5-year warranty, so I can be assured that the motor won’t blow up for at least another few years. The 8.8 is not made anymore and my rep tells me it has been replaced with the 9.2, which has a 3.0 hp motor.
So from a reliability perspective this has been a very good unit and the people at Advanced Fitness have always been helpful and knowledgeable.
