| kgirlathlon's Full Review: Smooth 9.1 Series Treadmill |
A year ago, I suffered neck and back injuries in an automobile accident. After several months of physical therapy, my doctor told me that it would be alright to begin a regular exercise program again. Knowing that I used to be a runner and wanted to get back into running, he recommended that I begin by walking a little everyday, until my body had gotten strong enough to resume running.
Although I enjoy walking and running outdoors, there are times when doing so simply isn’t feasible…i.e. bad weather conditions. So, I decided to do a little online research on various kinds of treadmills, with the intention of buying one, if I found one that seemed practical, reliable, and affordable.
My research led me to the Smooth 9.1 treadmill. I was impressed with what I read about this treadmill. A toll-free number was given on the website. So, I decided to call and speak to a salesperson. After all, I was considering buying this treadmill, without actually seeing it or trying it out in person! I wanted to know as much about it as I could possibly find out!
The salesperson was very helpful in answering my questions and in telling me all about the Smooth 9.1. I decided to take a chance and buy it!
When my new treadmill arrived, I was very impressed with how little work was involved in setting it up! Then, when I tried it out, I knew I had made the right choice! Because my back still isn’t as strong as it used to be, the toggle switches on the handrails are wonderful! I don’t have to lean over to make adjustments, thus, eliminating any extra stress on my back! I also opted to get the wireless heart rate control, which helps me not to overdo my workouts, since I’m still gradually building up my strength and stamina. For me, it’s a must-have feature! This feature has a heart rate receiver in the console. Then, the user wears a wireless heart-rate monitor around the upper abdomen. The monitor transmits the user’s heart rate to the receiver; and, the receiver, then, adjusts the intensity of the user’s workout until the heart rate is in the preset zone. The wireless heart-rate control offers two level settings…a cardiovascular setting or a weight-control setting. This feature may be used as a monitor only, or it may be used to actually control one’s heart rate! And, when the user’s age is programmed in, it automatically calculates the target zone for that age! VERY COOL!
Some other features about the Smooth 9.1 that should be mentioned include it’s calorie calculator, which calculates the number of calories burned according to the user’s weight input! For me, this is a wonderful aid in helping me keep track of how many calories I burn during each workout! I also am delighted with the fact that, in addition to four preset programs, I can custom-design four programs of my own! The factory preset programs offer five effort levels in each program and may even be changed during one’s workout! However, if I wish to simulate going up and down hills to intensify my workout a bit, I have the option to create my own program! I also like the ¼ mile track and the fact that each ¼ mile lap is counted for me, so that I’ll know how much distance I’ve put in! Finally, the speed/incline memory repeat system is great, because I don’t have to reset the speed and incline every time I begin a workout!
The Smooth 9.1 seems quite sturdy and durable, and I really like how quietly it operates! Overall, I am quite pleased with my treadmill purchase! I would definitely recommend this treadmill to other potential buyers!
