| geepinions's Full Review: Smooth Ce Elliptical Trainer |
I decided on this Elliptical Trainer at least partially on the reputation of company that sells it. I bought a Smooth 5.5 treadmill 5 years ago and between my wife and I we've put thousands of miles on it and are well pleased with it, and the service we needed to take care of an electronic problem that occurred early on.
The hardest part of the Elliptical Trainer setup was getting it out of it's crate and into the house. I found that knocking the wood framing off the pallet and rolling the machine off the back worked well. If you set up outside you can roll the unit easily across smooth surfaces on it's front wheels. I didn't do this due to weather. My 14 year old son and I carried it in with little problem with me on the dumb (flywheel) end.
Once unpacked, setup was uncomplicated and took less than an hour. The instructions were all graphical. I would have preferred some text to go along with the pictures.
Upon first use, I found the machine to be smooth, stable, and silent. Your breathing will be all you hear.
The users manual was not very good in my opinion. I figured out the features anyway. The heart rate monitor worked well using either the stationary hand grips or the earlobe sensor. I haven't used the chest strap sensor yet so I can't comment on that. Your effort is measured in watts instead of calories but work is work.
I paid $1399 for this machine after a $100 discount for being a repeat customer. So far, I think this machine is a great value.
