Sturdy, Stable, Smooth and Quiet are under statements. This machine is built better than anything on the market at any price. I've tried them all, starting with the department stores, the larger Sporting Good chains and finally our local Fitness Equipment store. Our fitness equipment store carries elliptical trainers from the 3 top rated manufacturers but machines comparable to the 7.4 ($2000) start at double the price. The stride on the 7.4 (19") is comfortable with no bounce. I'm 6' and my wife, 5'1" finds it equally comfortable. It's whisper quiet and level changes are so smooth they'd go undetected if not for resistance. I was skeptical and very apprehensive about purchasing site unseen, in spite of favorable reviews. So apprehensive, in fact, that I asked the delivery folks to stand by until I opened the box. At first glace I was pleasantly surprised. This machine is built to last, period. The manual could be a little more informative regarding operation but comes with a diagram that numbers every part (lifetime warranty). This should make it easy to order should the need arise. My experience with Smooth Fitness has been very positive thus far. I ordered late on a Wednesday evening, got a call the following Monday from the trucking company to schedule a Tuesday delivery. I'm in the Carolinas. My machine was missing a trim piece. I called customer service. They had me look up the part number in the manual and sent it to me via UPS immediately. It arrived the following Monday. I've read a lot of negative reviews about their customer service. My experience tells me that if they had a problem, they've corrected it!
